All classes are designed so that every student can progress at their own pace. This eliminates the need for competition among peers and allows each student to focus on their own personal goals as a developing artist.
PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM (ages 3 through 4.5 yrs)
How the program works: Ottos beginning artists choose their own picture and sit at individual benches. The pictures are developed to help them learn how to first identify shapes and then recreate the shapes on their own to build simple color pictures. As their skills develop, the pictures become more challenging. This is an excellent prelude to our childrens program.
Skills Learned: Budding artists enhance their hand/eye coordination and artistic skills while practicing patience, respect and being courteous to others.
CHILDRENS PROGRAM (ages 5 through 12 years)
How the program works: Students choose their own picture and sit at individual benches. The pictures teach students how to create an advanced drawing using basic shapes. Once the drawing is complete, they learn various coloring techniques to make their pictures more realistic.
Progression through the program includes learning still life drawing, watercolor, and oil painting.
Skills Learned: Ottos developing artists learn how to draw, problem solve, and make artistic decisions so they can work independently to progress forward in the program. The end result is a child who possesses the skills of a fine artist as well as a child with confidence, self respect, and high self esteem.
TEEN PROGRAM (ages 13 through young adult)
How the program works: The main focus of the teen program is drawing. Students draw from real life using basic shapes, then learn several techniques to adjust their drawing. Progression through the program includes working with charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and oil painting.
Skills Learned: Maturing artists will develop confidence in their artwork and themselves. Students will produce a variety of work to help them build their portfolios for future schooling.
ADULTS Whether youre a beginner, experienced artist, or just looking to learn a new medium, our program can be customized to fit your needs. We offer the following mediums: pencil, pastel, charcoal, watercolor or oil painting.
SUMMER CAMPS
This last summer students came for a week of art camp. On the last day they used their art knowledge to apply it to a patio stone behind our studio.
Our summer camps are one week long and follow the same structure as our regular program. On the last day of each camp students will do a unique art project. Call to see what we will be doing this summer! DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR YOUR CHILDS BIRTHDAY! Have an art party at Ottos!
The birthday child and their friends will spend two hours in our studio. The first hour is dedicated to learning how to draw and creating a pastel picture that they can take home. The second hour is for cake and gifts.
PARTY INCLUDES: A decorated art studio with balloons, a table for cake, gift bag, art instruction, all art supplies and a matted picture to take home. Call 262-970-9524 to book your party today!
